Historical

Border castles of Raglan, Caephilly, Chepstow and Caerleon plus the local ruins of Grosmont, Skenfrith and Whitecastle.

World Heritage site at Blaenavon offers a fascinating insight to life during the Industrial Revolution - take a trip down Big Pit Mining Museum with a miner who worked there.

The amphitheatre, baths and museum at Caerleon give you a full Roman experience.

St.Fagans Museum of Welsh Life is a fascinating trip back in time through actual homes and houses from around Wales.

Physical

Bring your walking boots and take your pick from the mountains that surround us - Blorenge, Sugar Loaf, Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains. Or enjoy a leisurely stroll around the farm or up on the canal.

Pedalaway Cycle Hire is run from the farm offering bikes for all the family, use pedal power to explore the surrounding area.

The local horse riding school can offer treks across the Llangattock Mountain to suit beginners and experienced riders. Other horse riding schools are within the area.

Monmouthshire boasts 17 golf courses including the wonderful Celtic Manor Resort, host for the Ryder Cup in 2010.

Fancy jumping off a mountain? Enjoy some air time paragliding or hang-gliding off the Blorenge Mountain with Paraventure Airsports.

Plenty more chances to get active on your holiday -canoeing on the Wye River, gorge walking, rope climbing and fishing.

Green Meadow Community Farm at Cwmbran offers all the farm animals, tractor rides, play area and cafe ideal for young children.

Techniquest Science Discovery Centre in Cardiff Bay a popular interactive, hands on experience suitable for 5 years and up.

Goytre Wharf is an interesting 8 acre site on the Monmouthshire-Brecon Canal with canoes and day boats to hire plus cafe and small play area.

Brecon Mountain Railway provides all the fun of narrow gauge steam train.

Retail Therapy

Plenty of chances to shop and you can take your pick from;

Markets - livestock, craft, farmers all close by in Abergavenny, Brecon, and Hereford.

Factory outlets - on the former Festival garden site at Ebbw Vale.

Antiques and curiosities - enjoy the search in flower filled Usk, historic Monmouth or quaint Hay-on-Wye.

High Street - Newport is close by for immediate therapy but do not forget the cosmopolitan capital city of Cardiff.
